I’m a sucker for a witty name when it comes to incense. I’m also a sucker for anything Hip Hop related. So when I saw Stuck on the Blunt on the Kuumba website, images of Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg bouncing down the palm tree lined Crenshaw Boulevard in a Cadillac Deville smoking on a blunt immediately rushed through my mind, and I just had to have it.
The evening I burnt it, I put on some classic West Coast Hip Hop, dimmed the lights and prepared to be whisked away to South Central LA.
I was expecting a really deep, thick scent, something that may resemble, well, a blunt, but what I got was something completely different. I opened the pack, took a whiff and was surprised at how fruity it smelt. In fact, if someone were to blindfold me and put a stick under my nose and ask what I was sniffing, I’m certain I’d say a packet of sweets.
I must admit, I was a little disappointed that I wasn’t going to be getting the scent that I had hoped for, but, I lit the stick as sat back and was very surprised at how the scent evolved. It started off quite mellow and it didn’t really smell all that interesting. After 10 minutes or so I went to kitchen to make a drink. 5 minutes later, I returned to my front room and the smell was completely different. It had livened up a lot and was really, really sweet. I’m not normally a fan of really sweet scents, but this one was different. It smelt like candy, specifically, tutti frutti. As the stick continued to burn to levels of sweetness went up and down, which I enjoyed.
I like this scent. I’m a person who associates scents with different things, and whilst this may not be my go incense whilst I’m getting down to some Hip Hop, It is one that I will look forward to burning again in a different setting.
